Messier 45 - The Pleiades Star Cluster
The Pleiades Star Cluster sits about 444 light years from earth. It was once thought that the nebulosity was caused by the formation of the star cluster, but now, after more than 100 million years, any dust would have dispersed. It is now believed that the star formation is simply passing in front of a dusty region.
