NGC 6888 - The Cresent Nebula
The Crescent Nebula is approximately 4,500 light years away from earth. It is the results of stellar wind shredding materials cast off from the star's shell over 250,000 years ago. The star at its center is a short lived, super hot massive star known as a Wolf-Rayet star. In this case WR 136.
This image was captured using filters that isolate Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen III gasses. The individual frames of these filters are combined to create this image know as HOO processing.
